Woodburning, also known as pyrography, is the process of using heat to burn designs into wood. Self-taught, Laura uses a metal tipped tool  that can heat to over 1000 degrees and burns the design in by hand. Each piece starts as an original sketch on the wood first, no stencils or laser engraving is ever used. Color is added with colored pencil, watercolors, or acrylics.
